Resident activities 

Residents participate in a variety of education and service activities throughout the year.

Residency project

The resident is responsible for conceiving, devising, and conducting a project during the year. The project will be completed under the guidance of one of the residency preceptors. Residents will present their research at the St. Louis Area Resident Research Conference.

Pharmacy presentations

Residents will present and discuss at least three articles of interest and four formal cases.

Teaching responsibilities

Residents receive appointments as adjunct instructors at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. The resident will participate in a didactic teaching workshop arranged through the college and participate in developing a teaching activity associated with the workshop. Residents will also have the opportunity to lead topic discussion with PharmD students.

Resident seminar

The resident presents a formal seminar to the other St.Louis metropolitan-area residents. Assistance and guidelines for seminar presentation will be provided.

Resident grand rounds

Residents will present a one-hour Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education accredited peer-reviewed presentation for Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Service commitment

The resident will assist with staffing in the department by working weekends.

Travel

The residents will be required to attend American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Midyear Clinical Meeting. Travel support is provided by Christian Hospital.


The department has 22 pharmacists, 16 technicians, and five pharmacy students. The goal of the program is to prepare a clinical pharmacist for a generalists clinical pharmacists position in a community hospital.
