Welcome to Christian Hospital’s Pharmacy Residency Program

About Christian Hospital’s Pharmacy Residency Program

Christian Hospital, a community hospital in north St. Louis County, staffs 220 beds and is a member of the nationally renowned BJC HealthCare.

It offers an extraordinary opportunity in a pharmacy practice residency accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. U.S. News & World Report ranks Christian Hospital fifth in St. Louis and ninth in Missouri as a high-performing hospital in geriatrics, heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke.

The Pharmacy Department provides nutritional support, pharmacokinetics, and antibiotic dosing services as well as involvement in multidisciplinary rounds on select units and in multiple performance improvement committees. The department uses automation for medication management, distribution, barcoding, and computerized physician order entry.

The purpose of the PGY1 pharmacy residency program is to promote PharmD education and professionally develop clinical pharmacists who will be trained in various conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for PGY2 pharmacy residency postgraduate year two. Our goal is to prepare a clinical pharmacist for a generalist clinical pharmacist position in a community hospital.
