Breast milk donation
What is a milk bank?
Breast milk is a lifesaving medicine for medically fragile infants. It supports the immune system, brain and organ development, and reduces the risk of serious infections and complications. When feeding support is needed, donor breast milk can offer babies safe, nutritious support for growth and development. BJC works with The Milk Bank to make donations easy and free, helping generous moms supply thousands of ounces of milk to NICUs each year.
For more information about becoming a breast milk donor, call 317-536-1670 or fill out the application online to get started.
Once I’m approved to donate my breast milk, where do I drop it off?
You’ll receive directions on how to collect your breast milk from The Milk Bank. The milk bank asks each donor to donate at least 100 ounces over six months—about 16 ounces a month. Once you’re ready to drop off your first bags of milk, follow these steps:
- Schedule your milk drop appointment at Missouri Baptist Medical Center by calling 314-996-5642 or emailing [email protected] using the email subject line: Milk Bank Appointment request. Milk drop appointments can be made Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Use our handy curbside service or drop off your milk inside the entrance of Building D. Click here to find a map.
- If dropping off your milk at MoBap isn’t convenient, The Milk Bank can provide shipping containers at no cost to you.
