High blood pressure comes with high risks

BJC ACO wants you to know that even though you may not be able to see or feel it, high blood pressure can suddenly deliver a crushing blow to your body.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, keeps company with some heavy hitters. It is a significant contributor to heart disease, stroke and kidney failure.  Obesity, smoking, a high-salt diet, too much alcohol, high cholesterol levels, diabetes, lack of exercise and stress can all put you at risk.

African-Americans and those with a family history of this disease are also at risk. Consult with your physician to determine how often you should have your blood pressure checked.
