Alton Memorial Hospital offers a range of support groups, classes, and health screenings to support your well-being. Programs are available throughout the year and cover a variety of health topics and personal needs. Check back regularly for the latest offerings and schedules.
Childbirth Education Programs
Becoming a parent means taking on the most important responsibility in the world, but you don't have to go it alone. Childbirth education programs at Alton Memorial Hospital help expectant parents prepare for everything from breast-feeding to life with new baby.
Understanding Birth eClass!
$40 per family
This interactive program is a web-based class that uses videos, personal birth stories, animations, activities and games to teach all the essential information needed to prepare for birth. Topics include: understanding pregnancy, labor and comfort techniques, postpartum care, and newborn care. The Understanding Birth eClass registration includes: 24-hour unlimited online access for nine months and individualized one-on-one E-mail correspondence and support from an Alton Memorial Hospital childbirth educator throughout your virtual course. You will be emailed instructions on how to access the materials within two business days of your registration.

Breastfeeding Basics This will remain an in-person class, and equips participants with valuable information to support successful breastfeeding, including basic techniques and preparation for return to work and pumping.

Diabetes Group Classes
Patients will complete a series of four classes focusing on different topics. Physician referral required. To receive a referral, speak with your physician or call 618-463-7526 to learn more about this class.

Diabetes Management Center, Room G-252 (Ground Floor, Olin Wing)
The Diabetes Management Center, located on the ground floor of the Olin Wing, also hosts one-on-one educational sessions with the diabetes educator and/or dietitian during the week. Physician referral required. To receive a referral speak with your physician or call 618-463-7526 to learn more.
Diabetes Support Group
Aimed to provide educational and emotional support to those affected by diabetes. This service is free and does not require a referral from your physician. To register for the Diabetes Support Group call 618.463.7526. The Zoom link will be sent out to participants prior to each meeting*

Bariatrics Support Group
Stay connected and stay on track with your weight loss goals. This monthly support group is designed for bariatric patients with healthy recipes, inspirational stories and more.

Pediatric Hearing Screenings
The clinicians from St. Louis Children’s Hospital provide pediatric hearing services to children from birth to 21 years old who require follow-up
