Same-day total joint replacement is recommended for patients who:

• Are motivated and able to participate in rehabilitation
• Have strong support at home for the first few days
• Have no major medical conditions that require overnight monitoring

How it works

Surgery with same-day discharge is planned for the patient’s safety and comfort:

• Arrival and pre-surgery preparation
• Joint replacement surgery
• Recovery and monitoring
• Physical therapy shortly after surgery
• Guidance on walking, exercises, and home care
• Discharge home, typically within 6–8 hours from arrival

Before leaving the hospital, you’ll receive detailed instructions from your care team.
