BJC HealthCare offers free flu shots to St. Louis community for the 20th Year
ST. LOUIS (September 19, 2023) – Experts recommend getting your annual flu shot early to provide maximum protection against the flu this season. BJC will provide free flu shots in September and October.
For the 20th year, thanks to funding from The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, free flu shots will be available in the St. Louis area for residents six months and older. Health insurance is not required to receive a flu shot.
To avoid crowds and create a safe environment, the shots will be delivered at several locations by appointment. All vaccines are free of latex and preservatives. Those 65 years and older are eligible to receive a high dose (HD) vaccine while supplies last. If the HD vaccine is not available, they can receive a standard dose.
“It’s important to get a flu shot this fall season in order to be better protected from flu this year,” says Hilary Babcock, MD, MPH, BJC HealthCare vice president and chief quality officer. “We recommend that everyone eligible should make an appointment for a free flu shot because we expect the flu to be present this winter, and we encourage the St. Louis community to protect themselves and their families.”
In addition to the flu clinics at BJC HealthCare facilities, BJC is proud to collaborate with the St. Louis Blues to provide free flu shots during the team’s preseason game on Tuesday, September 26. Vaccinations will be available in the Enterprise Center concourse, so a game ticket is required for entry. No appointment required.
Free flu shots for the community are available at the locations listed below. For further details or to schedule an appointment, visit BJC.org/flushots.
