Prepare for your stay

It's normal to be nervous about an upcoming hospital stay. Our goal at Northwest Healthcare is to help you feel welcomed and supported before you even set foot in the hospital. Here you'll find a few details to help you plan for your upcoming stay. 

Northwest HealthCare is committed to making your visit as seamless and comfortable as possible. From pre-admission planning to ensuring you have everything you need, this guide will help you prepare for your stay.

What To Bring

  • Comfort items: comfortable clothing, toiletries, and any assistive devices, such as glasses and hearing aids
  • Identification: A photo ID, such as a driver's license, passport, or state-issued ID
  • Insurance information: All applicable insurance cards and any necessary authorization forms
  • Medications: A complete list of your current medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements
  • Emergency contacts: Names and phone numbers of family or friends to contact during your stay
  • Advance directives: If applicable, provide a copy of your living will or durable power of attorney for health care
  • Do not bring personal belongings, such as jewelry, valuables, or luggage. 

Admission Process

When you arrive, please make sure to:

  1. Check in at the main desk with your ID and insurance information
  2. Complete any remaining forms for admission and review patient rights and privacy notices.
  3. A staff member will guide you to your assigned room.

Pre-Surgery Requirements

If you are scheduled for surgery:

  • COVID-19 Testing: Patients undergoing surgery or certain procedures may require a COVID-19 test 48–72 hours before the procedure.
  • Pre-Procedure Instructions: Follow specific guidelines provided by your care team, including dietary restrictions and medication adjustments.
  • Arrival Time: Arrive promptly at your scheduled time to ensure all necessary steps are completed without delays.
