BJC Hospitals Awarded Top Marks by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the 2024 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, which score hospitals in more than 100 quality metrics. CMS evaluates 4,000 hospitals nationwide, including Veterans Administration (VA) medical centers and Department of Defense (DoD) military hospitals.

Overall, fewer than 10% of hospitals reviewed by CMS were awarded five stars in 2024. Five of those were BJC Health System hospitals:

Dedicated Sickle Cell Disease Treatment Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital offers new hope to patients

Nikeyia Ingram, 38, who was diagnosed with sickle cell disease (SCD) at just 6 months old, experiences pain nearly every day due to the red blood cell disorder. Most days, she’s able to treat the pain and manage her disease by controlling her stress, staying hydrated and keeping in touch with her medical team. Lately, Ingram has been finding that grief has been affecting her ability to manage her disease. Last year, she lost her 15-year-old, Demetrius Ingram, her only son, in a car accident. The heartache exacerbates her pain.

East and West Regions named to Newsweek’s “America’s Greatest Workplaces 2024”

Both regions of BJC Health System named among Newsweek’s second-annual “America’s Greatest Workplaces.”

These results were based on input from more than 250,000 U.S. employees, leading to 1.5 million company reviews in 78 individual sectors. The survey covered topics like compensation and benefits, training and career progression, work-life balance, and company culture.

New Presidents Named for Barnes-Jewish St. Peters, Progress West, and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospitals

ST. LOUIS, MO (June 24, 2024) – Barnes-Jewish St. Peters and Progress West Hospitals have named Greg Patterson as president effective July 1. Patterson’s new role comes after serving as president of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. Angelleen Peters-Lewis, PhD, RN, FAAN is the new president of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital in addition to her current role as Chief Operating Officer at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
