COVID-19 Vaccines
The COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for all individuals ages 5 years and above for the prevention of COVID-19.
The Pfizer vaccine is the only vaccine currently available for children ages 5-17 years. Children under 18 must be accompanied to their appointment by a parent or legal guardian. BJC is offering the Pfizer vaccine. Click the link below to schedule a vaccine.
A booster dose is recommended for everyone 5 years and older.
If you received Pfizer or Moderna as the initial series, the first booster dose should be given at least 5 months after completing the series.
If you received Johnson & Johnson (Janssen), the first booster dose should be given at least 2 months after completing the series.
The following people are eligible for a second booster dose at least 4 months after the first booster:
- Anyone 50 years and older
- 12 years and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised
- 18-49 years who received J&J as both their primary series and booster dose
For people 5 years and older with a compromised immune system (including cancer or organ transplant patients), an additional (3rd) primary series Pfizer or Moderna dose is recommended 28 days after the last Pfizer, Moderna dose, or as a second primary series dose after an initial Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) dose. You would be eligible for boosters after completing your primary series.
Visit the CDC’s website for more information about booster doses and primary series recommendations for moderately or severely immunocompromised people.
