Care centered on you and your family: We take time to understand your birthing goals. Our approach is intentionally personal so you feel like the only family in the hospital.
A peaceful environment: Our labor and delivery rooms were designed to provide a peaceful, comfortable environment. You may bring your own music to help with relaxation. You may also choose to wear your own clothing or gown during labor.

Advocacy for vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC): Our team of obstetricians and maternity specialists are experienced in VBAC deliveries and will advocate for this option when medically safe.

Birthing options

We believe your birthing experience should be personal and tailored to your needs and the needs of your baby. At BJC we strive to fulfill your special requests and offer a variety of birthing options and various features to assist you throughout your labor and delivery, including:

Vaginal birth

A vaginal birth, where the baby is delivered through the vagina after contractions, is the most common form of delivery. People who choose vaginal birth can do so with or without pain management.

Natural birth

Natural birth is a vaginal delivery without the use of pain medication.

Scheduled cesarean

A cesarean section (C-section) is a surgical delivery. A scheduled C-section may be recommended if there is a known medical reason to do so, like high blood pressure. The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that scheduled C-sections not be performed before 39 weeks, unless they’re medically required.

Unplanned cesarean

While emergencies are rare, an unplanned C-section may be recommended during labor and delivery if the health of mom or baby is at risk.

Vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC)

If you previously had a C-section and want to experience a vaginal birth, you may be eligible for a VBAC. VBAC is typically a safe and suitable choice for people who have had one prior C-section. Speak with your provider if you’re interested in a VBAC.

Scheduled induction

If you have gone past your due date or you and your baby are ready, your doctor may schedule you for an induction, where you will be given medication to start your labor. Inductions are not performed prior to 39 weeks unless medically necessary.
