John Hoelscher, MD

John Hoelscher, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician who sees patients 18 years and older. He provides preventative care, including annual wellness exams, vaccinations, and school and sports physicals. Dr. Hoelscher manages minor illnesses and injuries, cold and flu symptoms, allergies and chronic conditions, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, obesity and thyroid disease. Dr. Hoelscher is a caring healthcare provider who emphasizes holistic approaches and preventive care. He takes a practical and sensible approach to medical testing and medication prescriptions. Dr. Hoelscher enjoys building long-lasting relationships with his patients and caring for multiple generations of families. Dr. Hoelscher is from North St. Louis County and has deep roots in the Alton, Illinois, community, with a long history, amazing people and events. When he isn’t caring for patients, he enjoys cycling, crosswords, reading nonfiction, particularly about natural history, and spending time with his family. Dr. Hoelscher received his medical degree and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia.
