Alfred D. Nelson, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in general gastroenterology, neurogastroenterology, and neurogastromotility, who sees patients 18 years of age and older. He treats a range of gastroenterology conditions, including upper gastrointestinal bleed, lower gastrointestinal bleed, difficulty in swallowing, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gastroparesis, cirrhosis, hepatitis B and C, and acute and chronic pancreatitis. He also performs colorectal cancer screenings, diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopies, and upper endoscopies.

Originally from India, Dr. Nelson enjoys watching sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, Formula One racing, and Real Madrid Soccer Club. He loves spending quality time with his family.
Dr. Nelson earned his medical degree from Government Vellore Medical College in Vellore, India. He completed his internship and residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed fellowships in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
