BJC HealthCare Names Reid Deputy General Counsel

Sara Reid has been promoted to deputy general counsel for BJC HealthCare.

As vice president and deputy general counsel, Reid will maintain her current responsibilities and take on an expanded leadership role within BJC’s legal services department, working closely with the heads of compliance, audit and risk management.

Reid serves as the primary attorney for BJC’s academic medical center institutions, hospital-affiliated foundations and has primary responsibility for interactions with Washington University School of Medicine on the academic medical campus. Her areas of expertise encompass transactional matters including affiliations and acquisitions, corporate governance and general corporate issues, telemedicine, tax-exempt bond financing, and graduate medical education and academic medical center-related issues.

In addition to her proven leadership in technical legal matters, Reid fosters the professional growth of developing attorneys through both structured internship programs and mentoring relationships that have supported the education and training of more than 50 law students during her BJC tenure.

Reid has been with BJC for more than 18 years, beginning in 2005 when she joined the legal department as a senior staff attorney. She was promoted to director of legal services in December 2009, moved into the role of associate general counsel in November 2015, and was promoted to vice president in April 2022.

Prior to her experience at BJC, Reid was an associate at the Dentons Law Firm, formerly known as Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal. She is a graduate of Truman State University and holds a Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law.
