When Should I Go?

If you need same-day treatment for a minor condition, we are here to help. Plus, co-pays are typically similar to a primary care appointment, and often less expensive than visiting an urgent care or emergency room.

If you have chest pain, shortness of breath, uncontrollable bleeding, sudden vision impairment, a broken bone or another serious or life-threatening situation, call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?

  • Reserving a time online is recommended, however, you can also walk-in but appointments are based on availability. 


Will I receive my prescribed medication before I leave?

  • If the provider feels you need a prescription, it will be electronically sent to a pharmacy of your choice.


Who are the providers?

  • Medical care is provided by BJC nurse practitioners and physician assistants.


Are locations open every holiday?

  • All BJC Medical Group Convenient Care locations close on Thanksgiving and Christmas but typically open every other holiday. 


What are the hours?

  • BJC Medical Group Convenient Care locations are open 8 am - 8 pm every day, but a few clinics are closed for a 1-hour lunch break. The hours for each location are listed on the website. 


Does BJC Medical Group Convenient Care accept insurance?

  • Yes, we are in-network with most major health insurance plans. The cost will depend on your insurance, but most patients will be charged a low co-pay. Please contact your insurance carrier about your plan and coverage to understand your financial responsibility. 


Can I get an x-ray?

After you are assessed at your Convenient Care appointment, the provider can confirm if an x-ray is necessary.

Radiology services are offered at these Convenient Care locations.

  • Missouri: Chesterfield, weekdays from 8 am-8 pm

  • Missouri: O’Fallon, daily from 8 am-8 pm

  • Missouri: Wentzville, daily from 8 am-8 pm

  • Illinois: Edwardsville, weekdays from 8 am-4 pm


Do you offer laboratory services for blood tests?

After you are assessed at your Convenient Care appointment, the provider can confirm if a blood test is necessary. Results may take a few hours or days to process.

Blood tests are offered to Convenient Care patients at these locations during normal business hours Monday through Friday. 

  • Missouri: Chesterfield, O’Fallon, Wentzville

  • Illinois: Bethalto, Edwardsville, Godfrey

If a provider orders a lab test before or after your primary care or specialty care appointment, it should be completed at the provider's office or outpatient lab that offers this service. 


Do you do plaster casting for broken bones?

  • No. If you think you have a possible broken bone, please visit your closest emergency room or a facility that offers this service. 


Do the providers prescribe controlled substances?

  • The providers at a Convenient Care location do not prescribe controlled substances. 


What should I bring?

  • Please bring your insurance card, a valid photo ID and a form of payment for the co-pay. We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) cards. 


What if I have a follow-up question about my treatment plan?

  • If your treatment is not working or you have a question, call the Convenient Care location where you received the care. Depending on your illness or condition, a follow-up appointment might be recommended with a primary care provider.
