What services are provided?
When you go to BJC Concierge Care, you will be getting primary care services with a personalized and proactive approach to long-term wellness. These include, but not limited to, annual wellness exams and preventive medicine, management of acute and chronic conditions, wellness plans tailored to the needs of both women and men, health screenings, vaccinations, weight management medications, Medicare annual wellness visits and discussing advanced directives and planning for end-of-life care. For your convenience, the suite includes a lab if a blood draw is necessary.
Are the physicians limited to a certain number of patients?
Yes, each BJC Concierge Care physician is limited to 400 to 600 patients. Providers in a standard internal medicine practice have around 2,000 patients. This means BJC Concierge Care physicians will get to know you better and gain a deeper understanding of your medical history and healthcare goals. It also means you will get more time with your provider, which means more time to listen and ask questions about your health.
Will the providers have access to my medical records if I am seen by a specialist?
As a part of the larger organization of BJC HealthCare, members of BJC Concierge Care receive many benefits that aren’t available at other concierge clinics. For example, your personal physician will have seamless communication with specialists and hospitals across BJC. The transfer of medical records is also a breeze. Any BJC or Washington University physician, clinic or hospital will have full access to your records, without the need for you to call, email or fax your own information. You will also have access to MyChart, BJC’s online patient portal, which allows you to request medication refills, pay a bill, message your doctor, see test results and more. As part of a world-class health care organization, BJC Concierge Care is your one-stop health care resource.
Who will take care of me if my physician is traveling?
At BJC Concierge Care, a dedicated team of physicians works together to ensure seamless care. If your doctor is away, another physician will be available to handle your immediate concerns or see you in the clinic. You will receive an email with the covering doctor’s name and contact information.
How much is the membership fee?
As we age, our healthcare needs become more complex and more personal. BJC Concierge Care is designed for adults who want longer appointments, a more personal relationship with their primary care doctor, additional support and a different approach. The out-of-pocket cost of $1,980 annually. That’s only $5.42 per day for a different kind of doctor-patient relationship. We accept both credit and debit cards.
Do medical insurance plans cover the membership fee?
It is unlikely that the annual fee will be reimbursable by your medical insurance plan. You may want to check to see if your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) covers a concierge fee. We recommend consulting with your human resources representative at your place of employment or medical health plan for coverage details.
Do I need medical insurance coverage to join BJC Concierge Care?
Yes, membership in BJC Concierge Care is not a substitute for health insurance, yet it works with your health insurance plan. We also accept most major insurance plans, allowing you to use your benefits to cover your medical expenses apart from your membership fee.
Do I still have to pay my copay or any other incurred charges outside of my insurance plan?
Patients will remain responsible for the copay for expenses such as an office visit, prescriptions, deductibles or any other charges incurred. Membership is a value-added service and BJC Concierge Care will bill the patient insurance plans. We recommend that you review your medical coverage to understand your coverage details.
Does BJC Concierge Care take Medicare?
Yes.
Is my membership fee tax deductible?
You will need to consult your tax advisor for specific guidelines.
What is your cancellation policy?
At BJC Concierge Care, we believe that all patients should be 100% satisfied with their care. We never lock patients into a year-long agreement. You have freedom to cancel your membership at any time if you decide that concierge care is not the right fit for you. The membership fees will be refunded at a pro-rated amount to the date submitted on your termination notice. Please mail your request to cancel to the BJC Concierge Care clinic and include your reason for cancellation. Your membership will be terminated 30 days after the written notice is received.
