BJC Medical Group - About Our Star Ratings

About our Patient Satisfaction Survey

The BJC Medical Group (BJCMG) is committed to providing the information you need to make important decisions about your health care. One important way we are doing this is by publishing star ratings and reviews for BJCMG providers who care for patients. Understanding how other patients feel about their experience should help you feel more confident in choosing the right provider.

To help BJC Medical Group reach its goal of providing an excellent experience to every patient, every time, we partner with Professional Research Consultants (PRC) to conduct surveys with our patients about their experiences with BJCMG.

PRC sends electronic survey links to BJC Medical Group patients following their clinic visit, asking them to evaluate different aspects of their care from the provider and care team. Once a provider receives at least 30 reviews in a 12-month period, responses are calculated by PRC and posted to the provider's profile page using a five-star rating system.

By collecting information in this way, you can trust that the reviews posted on the BJC Medical Group Find A Doctor web site are from verified patients of that provider and represent all responses to the survey.

What providers are included in our survey?

The BJC Medical Group surveys patients of our primary care doctors, specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and midwives for services provided in the medical office setting.

Who receives the survey?

PRC and the BJCMG conduct our patient surveys via electronic link. The survey link is sent to patients who have a valid e-mail address and/or cell phone that is opted in to receive text messages. Out of respect to our patients, if you see the same provider in the same office multiple times within a 90-day period, you will only receive a survey for the first visit (if you complete the survey for that visit). After the 90-day block out window is complete, you will then receive a new survey at your next visit. This is to limit survey fatigue when seeing a provider multiple times in a short window of time.

If you have visited your provider’s office, did not receive a survey, and wish to complete one, please reach out to your provider's office to make sure there is a valid e-mail and cell phone on file with texting capabilities.

What data is shared?

Responses to our patient experience survey questions that relate directly to our providers are shared on their profile pages. These questions include (rated on an Excellent-Poor scale):

  • How would you rate this provider on: Explaining the Medical Condition and Treatment
  • How would you rate this provider on: Giving Clear Instructions About What To Do Following the Appointment
  • How would you rate this provider on: Involving You in Decisions About Your Care
  • How would you rate this provider on: Spending Enough Time and Not Seeming Rushed

  • How would you rate this provider on: His or Her Courtesy and Friendliness
  • Would you say the likelihood of your recommending this provider to friends and relatives is:

Are all comments posted?

While we are committed to publishing both positive and negative comments, we also maintain a rigorous process to review and remove comments that are profane, libelous, unrelated to the provider, or violate patient privacy.

Why don’t some providers have star ratings?

  • Providers with less than 30 survey responses within a 12-month period will not have ratings listed on their profile due to small sample size.
  • We only post star ratings and comments for BJC Medical Group providers in the clinic setting.
