Federal regulations now require hospitals to publish a list of their standard charges. These standard charges are subject to various adjustments, including discounts mandated by Medicare and Medicaid or negotiated by group health plans, employers or insurance companies. In addition, discounts are available to self-pay patients and to patients in need of financial assistance.
As such, the published standard charges do not necessarily reflect the actual amount you or your health plan would be billed for a hospital service. Please see the following links to (a) view the list of standard charges for your BJC hospital, (b) obtain an estimate of your likely costs based on your specific situation, and (c) to learn more about BJC’s Financial Assistance policy.
Coronavirus update: The hospital standard charge for patients who are tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) is $128. For those patients without health insurance the cost of the test will be an out-of-pocket cost of $77.
BJC also offers custom hospital cost estimates based on individual patient information including procedure, service, insurance and financial information. Find the Patient Cost Estimator here.
