What is multiple sclerosis (MS)?
MS is an autoimmune disease that damages myelin, the protective coating surrounding nerve fibers in the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. This damage can interrupt communication between the brain and body and lead to a wide range of neurological symptoms.
How is MS diagnosed?
Diagnosis may include a neurological examination, MRI imaging, and sometimes a lumbar puncture to evaluate spinal fluid. Our specialists guide patients through every step of the evaluation process.
What types of MS are there?
The main types include relapsing-remitting MS, secondary progressive MS, and primary progressive MS. Each type behaves differently and may require a different treatment approach.
What MS treatment options are available?
While there is not yet a cure for MS, treatments can effectively manage symptoms, reduce relapses, and slow disease progression. Treatment plans are individualized based on your condition, symptoms, and goals. Options may include infusion therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, pain management, neuro-ophthalmology services, or clinical trial participation. Learn more.
Do I need a referral?
Yes. New patients need a referral before scheduling an appointment. Contact our office if you have questions about referrals or recently received one from another provider.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans. Contact our office at 314-747-4214 before your appointment to verify that your insurance coverage is accepted.
Where can I park?
The Euclid Garage at 224 S. Euclid Ave. is connected to the third floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine by an enclosed pedestrian walkway. Validated parking is available at a discounted rate, and valet parking is also available from 6 a.m.–7 p.m. at the front covered entrance on Parkview Place.
