What to expect with lab testing?

To get lab testing, you first need an order from your primary care physician. Then, you may schedule an appointment. Most laboratory tests require no special preparation. Please ask your physician if you need to follow special instructions such as fasting, avoiding certain foods, or stopping the use of tobacco products. Your test may be a 24-hour collection test. If your physician hasn’t provided a container, you’ll pick it up at one of our outpatient labs. You will register for the lab test after you’ve completed the collection. After testing, you and your physician will have access to your results. If your physician has access to EPIC, they’ll order your lab tests through this system. If your physician isn’t on EPIC, you’ll need to bring a requisition form with you.
