Frequently asked questions

How can I contact or speak with my provider?

Patients can connect with their BJC Medical Group primary care providers through:

  • Phone calls: You can call your provider’s office if you have urgent concerns, time-sensitive questions, or an issue that requires immediate assistance.
  • MyChart patient portal: Use MyChart to schedule an appointment, ask non-urgent questions, request medication refills, or communicate with your care team.
  • Virtual Care visits: Scheduling a virtual care visit through MyChart is a convenient way to discuss concerns with your provider without coming to the office.

Will my insurance cover my preventive annual wellness visit?

Preventive annual visits are covered by most insurers and Medicare. If anything outside the scope of a preventive visit is discussed, your bill might contain an additional office charge and you’ll have a copay. Call 636-695-0535 before your appointment to confirm that your insurance will be accepted.

What happens at my first visit?

Your first visit typically includes a comprehensive evaluation and a detailed discussion of your health history.

How do I access my test results?

Log into MyChart to view your results.

When should I schedule virtual, convenient, or emergency care?

Knowing which type of care to seek depends on your symptoms. Learn more about your options here.

Why do I sometimes see a different primary care provider?

Our goal is to ensure you get the care you need when you need it. There may be times when your primary care physician is unavailable and in those situations, another member of your care team, such as a nurse practitioner (NP), may see you instead. NPs work closely with physicians and have access to your medical record, treatment plans, and health history so your care remains coordinated and consistent. Seeing another provider on your care team can often help you get an appointment sooner.

Can my provider refer me to a specialist?

Yes, but your primary care provider will often want to see you first to evaluate your condition and gather additional information. This helps them refer you to the correct specialist.
