John P. Lynch, MD, is group president of BJC Health’s East Region, which operates as BJC HealthCare, and president of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a role he has held since 2020. As group president, Dr. Lynch’s responsibilities include oversight of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Christian Hospital, Goldfarb School of Nursing, and BJC pharmacy services.
Board-certified in pulmonary medicine, Dr. Lynch has been on the medical staff of Barnes-Jewish Hospital since 1995, also serving as chief medical officer and chief operating officer before being named the hospital’s president. A Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Lynch is also a professor of medicine at WashU Medicine, where he was formerly vice chair of the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Lynch received his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed his residency at the former Barnes Hospital and did a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at WashU Medicine. He serves as the board chair for the American Heart Association’s 2026 Metro St. Louis Heart Walk.
