Wm. Claiborne Dunagan, MD, MS, provides leadership for the organization on quality assessment and improvement initiatives. Dr. Dunagan is a senior vice president and the Chief Clinical Officer and leads BJC’s Center for Clinical Excellence, which supports the members of BJC HealthCare in measuring and enhancing the quality of care. Bruce L. Hall, MD, PhD, MBA, FACS, is Vice President and System Chief Medical Officer for BJC HealthCare and leads the Clinical Advisory Group for the BJC Center for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Hall oversees clinical advisory services focusing on identifying high impact clinical quality, coordination, integration, and resource management issues, and efforts to address these topics relevant to priority populations. Dr. Hall and the Clinical Advisory Group advance physician engagement strategies to create and fortify clinical service coordination, cohesion, and standardization across the health system, in order to improve clinical outcomes, decrease preventable harm, and enhance efficiency of resource utilization. Keith Woeltje, MD, PhD, is Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer for BJC HealthCare. Dr. Woeltje directs the Healthcare Informatics group within the Center for Clinical Excellence. In this role he oversees analytics and business intelligence, clinical decision support, clinical quality abstraction and reporting, data governance, clinical information systems, and medical direction of the BJC Epic implementation. Tommye Austin

Tommye Austin, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, is senior vice president for patient care systems and chief nurse executive for BJC HealthCare. Tommye Austin is responsible for BJC’s patient care strategy, integrated care management strategy, patient safety platforms, direction of clinical care management system deployment, and supporting the development of BJC’s 8,000 nursing professionals and other allied health professionals. More >>

Tom Maddox

Thomas M. Maddox MD, MSc, is the inaugural Executive Director of the Healthcare Innovation Lab at BJC HealthCare and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is also a practicing cardiologist, a professor of medicine (cardiology) at Washington University School of Medicine, and a health services researcher. Dr. Maddox's research interests have focused on health care delivery innovation, learning health care systems, prevention in coronary artery disease, optimal care for cardiac patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery, and quality of care for cardiac patients. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, received multiple grants exploring optimal cardiac care and outcomes, and holds national leadership positions in the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Eric Warnhoff

Eric Warnhoff, MBA, is the Director of Transformation Support at the Center for Clinical Excellence. Eric has earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Illinois University and a Certificate in Business Management from the Darden Graduate School of Business. He earned his MBA from Webster University in 2014. Since his time with BJC, Eric has implemented Lean Daily Management, facilitated RIEs, and participated in Goal Deployment throughout multiple community hospitals in the network. He is the primary instructor for BJC’s Lean Facilitator training program. He was also the project lead on the Lean transformation project in the Core Labs at SLCH.
