Joint conditions we treat

Joint replacement surgery may be right for you if you have:

  • Avascular necrosis
A disruption to a bone's blood supply leads to tissue death. This weakens the bone, limiting its ability to support your weight.
  • Hip dysplasia
This is a congenital (present at birth) condition. The hip socket is too shallow to secure the upper leg bone, raising the risk of dislocation.
  • Hip impingement
This congenital condition, also known as femoralacetabular impingement (FAI) causes the upper leg bone to pinch the cup of the hip bone. This damages nearby cartilage, leading to wear and tear.
  • Osteoarthritis
This condition occurs when the cartilage that cushions the joint wears out. It's a common reason to have arthroplasty.
  • Post-traumatic arthritis
An injury, such as a broken bone or torn ligament, causes extra wear and tear on your joint.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
This type of arthritis occurs when the immune system attacks your joints. In some people, it affects multiple joints.
  • Rotator cuff tear arthropathy
Shoulder arthritis occurs after damage in the rotator cuff, muscles and soft tissue that help you move your arm.

Specialized joint replacement surgery

You have access to specialized services not widely available in the region. We often use minimally invasive approaches such as small incisions to try to avoid disrupting healthy muscle tissue. This method lowers infection risks and post-operative pain.

We offer the following specialized joint replacement surgeries:

Pediatric hip replacement
Pediatric orthopedic surgeons deliver specialized care to children and young adults with congenital (present at birth) hip conditions.
Reverse shoulder replacement
We remove the upper arm bone and part of the shoulder socket, then attach a metal ball to the arm, anchoring it to the remaining tissue.
Partial joint replacement
We remove the damaged part of the joint, such as the top part of the leg or arm bone. Doing so preserves healthy tissue, optimizing range of motion.
Joint replacement revision
This additional procedure can help if you still have pain after arthroplasty. We replace the artificial joint with a new device
