BJC Laboratories: Keeping You Safe

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 exposure for patients, visitors and staff, BJC HealthCare laboratories have established a variety of services to offer safe alternatives for at-risk and immunocompromised patients. Please see below for details.

Physician orders are required for all lab services. If your physician office has not sent them electronically or via fax, please be sure to bring paper orders with you. Some form of identification will be required.

Before you visit, please review the safety measures you can expect at BJC hospitals.

 

Designated Hours

The following facilities have designated service hours for at-risk or immunocompromised patients. No appointment is required. We are asking all BJC patients to assist us in supporting those in our community who are most vulnerable.

Alton Memorial Hospital

  • Follow signage to the designated parking for the Center for Advanced Medicine. The Euclid Garage is connected to the 3rd floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine by an enclosed pedestrian walkway. Handicap parking is located on all levels and a convenient drop-off area is located on the 3rd level.
  • Proceed to the Express testing area on the 3rd floor of the Center for Advanced Medicine.
  • A representative will verify your information. Be sure to bring your driver’s license and insurance card. If your doctor has not already sent the lab order electronically, you will also need to bring your paper lab order.
  • You'll be directed to the waiting area.
  • The phlebotomist will call you to the specimen collection area.

Northwest HealthCare

To minimize risk of exposure, patients call from their vehicle upon arrival, then are called back by the laboratory when ready for the specimen collection.
Park at the laboratory location and remain in your vehicle: 1225 Graham Road, Entrance A Florissant, MO 63031 Designated Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Maps and directions.
  • Call 314.953.6466 to register over the phone.
  • A representative will verify your information. Be sure to bring your driver’s license and insurance card. Paper orders are strongly encouraged even if your physician office has already sent the lab order electronically.
  • The laboratory will call your phone when ready for the specimen collection. Only two call attempts will be made before the laboratory moves to the next patient in line.
  • Enter the facility through Entrance A. Once you have been screened for COVID-19, let the front desk staff know that you are a "phone registration."
  • You will be directed to the specimen collection area to have your samples collected.
  • Results will be sent to your physician’s office as well as posted to your MyChart account (if applicable). Most results will be completed the same or next day.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital

  • Park at the laboratory location and remain in your vehicle. Please enter the Children’s Visitor Garage accessed from Kingshighway onto Children’s Place.

  • A representative will verify your information. Be sure to bring your driver’s license and insurance card. If your doctor has not already sent the lab order electronically, you will also need to bring your paper lab order.
  • The laboratory will call your phone when ready for the specimen collection.
  • Enter the facility and proceed to the specimen collection area.
  • A phlebotomist will collect your sample.
  • Results will be sent to your physician’s office as well as posted to your MyChart account (if applicable). Most results will be completed the same or next day.

Drive-Up Lab

Patients receive laboratory services from their vehicles in an enclosed mobile collection site. Patients do not need to enter the hospital or lab collection area.

  • A phlebotomist will visit your vehicle to collect your sample.
