BJC honors military veterans with Nov. 11 Red, White and Thank You celebrations

BJC veterans and active military members shared stories and photos, enjoyed meals together and even found a way to serve others while being honored at the BJC Veterans Connection Red, White and Thank You Veterans Day celebrations held across the organization, Nov. 11.

Guest speakers, live music and opportunities to support fellow veterans highlighted events held throughout the day at BJC hospitals and the BJC Learning Institute. Many of the locations also hosted a food drive to support military members and their families served by the Jefferson Barracks Food Pantry.

Dan Rothery, BJC home care and community services president, spoke to the veterans gathered at the BJC Learning Institute on Veterans Day. “This is one of my favorite annual events,” he said.

He shared with the group that he’s a proud son and nephew of veterans, and that he values the contribution military members make to BJC, as well as to the country. “There’s something about the way you carry yourselves,” he said. “In the military, it’s all about the mission — and you bring that to BJC.”
