Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I file for unemployment while I am out on furlough?
A: Yes. Here are helpful resources:
To file online for unemployment in Missouri
To file online for unemployment in Illinois

Q: What happens to my benefits coverage and premiums while on furlough?
A: Your benefits coverage will continue, and BJC will pay your portion of your medical and dental premiums. Any premiums you currently pay for vision, supplemental life insurance, AD&D, Legal Services, LTD and flexible spending accounts will need to be repaid when you return to work. Upon your return, premiums owed will be collected in accordance with the standard benefit arrears process.

Q: What happens to my voluntary benefit deductions through YouDecide (e.g. Voluntary Short-Term Disability, Auto/Homeowner’s)?
A: Your coverage will continue and your benefit deductions may be on hold until your return to work at which time YouDecide will change your ongoing deduction to capture any missed premiums. Alternatively, you may receive notice to pay premiums via direct bill depending on the length of your furlough (this is an individual decision by the various insurance carriers and YouDecide coordinates this process).

Q: Will I still have the same benefits?
A: Yes, your benefits will not change unless BJC makes a change to our Total Rewards benefits offerings that would be applicable to all employees.

Q: If I'm furloughed, will I be able to access my paycheck stubs?
A: Yes, you may contact the Employee Service Center at 314.362.2184 or 855-362-2184 or via email at Employee_Service_Center@bjc.org to request copies of your paycheck stubs.
