What is the recommended dose of Intuniv for a 13-year-old boy who weighs 105 pounds?

Intuniv (guanfacine) is an older medication for high blood pressure that has been found to help in those with ADHD. Assuming the reason your child is taking this is for ADHD, it is recommended to begin dosing with 1 mg daily at the same time each day. The dose is then adjusted upwards by not more than 1 mg per week up to a maximum total daily dose of 4 mg.

When discontinuing this medication, it must be weaned in a reverse way. Do not stop taking this medication without instruction by the physician.
