I am on Claritin 24-hour and metformin, medroxyprogesterone, one a day women's multi, ibuprofen when needed, vit c and an albuterol inhaler, stool softer and was wondering if any of those I could not take with NyQuil and DayQuil.

The Vicks Nyquil (acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, doxylamine, pseudoephedrine) and DayQuil (pseudoephedrine, ibuprofen) both can interact with the albuterol (Ventolin), although less with the inhaled than with the oral albuterol products. Both may also interact with metformin (Glucophage) by interfering with the action of the metformin. If you use a blood sugar monitoring device at home, check your blood sugar regularly while taking these medicines together.

The metformin may also interact with some vitamins. I would suggest taking the One-A-Day vitamin an hour before, or at least two hours after, metformin. The NyQuil and Claritin (loratadine) both have antihistamines. Generally, if you take the Claritin early in the morning and NyQuil at bedtime, the drowsiness side effects may not be a problem.

The metformin may also interact with medroxyprogesterone (Provera). Although an interaction is possible, these drugs are often used together. Monitor your blood sugar.

The ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) would be duplicated with the DayQuil. This could irritate your stomach. Do not take both together.

The Vitamin C is fine with any of the others.

I would suggest avoiding the Vicks products if possible.
