I was put on Claritin daily because I kept having allergic episodes with blood pressure medications. Will Claritin make glucose and A1c levels go up?

From Ask the Pharmacist

Claritin (loratadine) is a long acting non-sedating antihistamine. There are no listings of any side effects that would affect blood sugar, A1C levels or diabetes in general. The most common side effects are drowsiness, fatigue, headache and dry mouth. If you are having issues with your diabetes control, please contact your doctor. There may be other issues at play here.
