I was recently prescribed neurontin 100 mg 2-4 times per day. 3 questions: does this have a cumulative effect? And could I take xanax as needed while on the neurontin? Or should I skip nighttime neurontin dose if I'm going to take xanax next day?

Very good questions. I will save the first question for last.

Although an interaction is possible, Xanax (alprazolam) and Neurontin (gabapentin) are frequently used together. You may feel more drowsy; do not drive or operate machinery until you know how these drugs affect you.

You should not have to worry about taking the Xanax and Neurontin together, much less the following day. I say this for a couple of reasons. The half life of Neurontin is 5-7 hours in doses of 1200 to 3000mg per day in patients with normal renal function. Your dose of 200 to 400mg daily is substantially less than this. So as long as you have normal kidney function, there should not be any accumulation of drug.
