I accidentally gave my 3-month-old 5cc of chlorpheniramine syrup once. Is it safe?

The chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton) syrup contains 2mg/5cc of drug. Young children should not be given cough and cold medications, like this antihistamine, without being prescribed by a physician. There are many possible side effects from antihistamines. These vary in severity and intensity, most commonly dizziness, restlessness and urinary retention.

Give the child plenty of water. Always double check any medication and correct dose before giving children medications. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children.
