My friend has type 2 diabetes and had to go to the Emergency Department due to a poisonous spider bite. His blood glucose was 600. The doctor sent him to the waiting room. Shouldn’t they have treated him right away?

Yes, that is a dangerously high level and any health problem might occur at that point. The sooner anyone receives treatment, the outcome is usually better. The Emergency Department often has many constraints and likely did the best they could in prioritizing patients.
