Please explain simple and complex carbohydrates, and give some examples of complex carbs.

Simple carbohydrates are also known as monosaccharides or disaccharides. They contain just one or two "carb" units. All carbohydrates consist of three elements: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Monosaccharides have just one unit and disaccharides have two units. Sugar and honey are some examples of simple carbs.

Complex carbs are known as polysaccharides. They have many "sugar" units. Complex carbohydrates include whole grains, pasta and rice. Complex carbs are an important part of a healthy diet.
