My doctor told me not to over-gain in my pregnancy — no more than 15-20 pounds, because I am already overweight. Please help me with some eating tips.

The best advice I can give is to eat a basic healthy diet. Include more whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Choose low-fat dairy products and leaner cuts of meat, such as skinless chicken. Limit higher calorie foods — sweets, cakes, candies and regular soda — and think of them as empty calories.

You want to choose more nutrient-dense foods for you and your baby. Limit fried foods, and choose baked or broiled items more often. And if your doctor says it's okay, include some walking every day.
