My A1c was 8.38 and my doctor said it was nothing to worry about even though my blood sugars gave been ranging from 250 to over 500. What should I do next?

Your A1c level and daily blood glucose values are out of range. An A1c value of less than 7 percent is desired to decrease diabetes complications significantly. When daily blood sugars are over 250 mg/dl, the chance of health problems increase. If you are not working with an endocrinologist, please call your insurance for a referral to one. You have a right to be concerned about the impact these high blood sugars have on your health.
