About the Diabetes Educator and Dietitian

Diane Zych, RD, CDE, is a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes educator in BJC Community Health Services, which provides a variety of preventive and early detection services for employers and community members. Diane also has worked in the Diabetes Center at Missouri Baptist Medical Center and as an outpatient dietitian in Nutrition Counseling at Christian Hospital. Diane has been with BJC HealthCare since 1991.

Her focus is to educate and assist people with diabetes or those who are at risk for diabetes.

About the Exercise Specialist

Aaron Gutjahr is our exercise specialist from the BJC HealthCare WellAware Center at the Taylor Avenue Building. He has been a personal trainer since 2002 and worked with people of all ages and physical abilities.

In 2003, Gutjahr earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology (minor in mathematics); and he has a master of science degree in education and exercise physiology. He is a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise, and a MADDOG certified spinning instructor. His training philosophy is: resistance training programs are the only way to build lean muscle and increase metabolism; therefore, weight management should focus on building muscle to burn fat. For consistent and sustainable weight loss, resistance training works.

About the Chef

John Beck has been a Morrison Executive Chef for BJC HealthCare for the last 14 years. The 10 years prior to that, he was Executive Chef for America's Center. He has been awarded the RCGA/St. Louis Hospitality Industries "Chef of the Year" award.

Chef John has traveled extensively throughout the United States to learn various styles of regional cuisine. John has conducted cooking demonstrations at all BJC facilities, and participates in BJC's Health Literacy program and numerous community service events and health fairs. He also frequently has represented BJC as a guest chef on St. Louis' Fox television network presenting heart-healthy cooking demonstrations. John currently sits on the Advisory Committee for an adolescent obesity website.

About the Pharmacist

About the Pharmacist

Duane Wesche received his pharmacy degree in 1978 from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and furthered his education at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, the University of Memphis, Southern California University-Pasadena and Kennedy-Western University.

Duane has worked in a chain store pharmacy, hospital pharmacy and his own pharmacies for 17 years. Duane has been at BJC HealthCare since 2001 and currently provides inpatient pharmacy services at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Duane is a certified asthma educator and licensed for medication therapy services. He is a licensed pharmacist in both Illinois and in Missouri.
