BJC is building a new 260,000-square-foot, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital designed to emphasize patient comfort and safety will all private inpatient rooms and easily accessible arrival and parking. Focusing on a highly specialized, unique line of surgical services, the hospital will continue to serve as an extension of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine. 

Construction began in early 2017. 

Yes. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is open during construction. The new hospital is being built behind the existing hospital. When construction is complete in 2019, we will open the new facility and then close the old hospital.
