Fowler’s Inspiring Leadership Earns Statewide Honor
“When blessings of leadership or success are bestowed, be sure those opportunities expand your heart, and not your head.”
With those words, BJC senior vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs June Fowler lived up to her honor as the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation 2018 Inspirational Leader of the Year. Fowler was among four women from across the state recognized for outstanding leadership at the organization’s annual luncheon May 29 at the Chase Park Plaza.
Founded in 1990, the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation conducts a statewide leadership training program designed to prepare accomplished women professionals for broader civic and state leadership roles. Through a highly competitive selection process, a limited number of outstanding women leaders are accepted into program membership each year.
Participants meet for intensive sessions that combine continuing education in leadership development, exploration and discussion of state public policy issues, and exposure to the philosophies of Missouri business, cultural, educational and political leaders. Each year, the organization recognizes outstanding women of achievement among its constantly expanding membership.
Fowler’s fellow 2018 award honorees included Kristy Chastain, vice president, Commerce Trust Company, Alumna of the Year; Chris Chinn, Missouri director of agriculture, Civic Leader of the Year; and Jan Holloway, senior vice president and chief of staff, Monsanto, Community Leader of the Year.
A number of BJC women leaders have completed the program, including the organization’s current president, Betsy Rodriguez, Barnes-Jewish Hospital vice president of human resources.
