Barnes-Jewish Hospital Once Again Ranked Among Top Hospitals by U.S. News and World Report

#1 in Missouri and St. Louis

 

Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine are listed among the nation’s elite medical centers in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of “America’s Best Hospitals”. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is ranked No. 1 in both Missouri and the metro St. Louis area. It ranked nationally in 10 adult specialties. In addition, Barnes-Jewish is rated as High Performing, the highest available rating, in nine out of nine Common Care Procedures and Conditions.

U.S. News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in both specific specialties (e.g. cardiology), and in certain common procedures and conditions (e.g. joint replacements).

The 1,158-bed primary adult teaching hospital of Washington University School of Medicine is the largest hospital in Missouri and the largest private employer in the St. Louis region. Barnes-Jewish Hospital has an 1,800-member medical staff with many who are recognized as "Best Doctors in America." They are supported by residents, interns and fellows, in addition to nurses, technicians and other health care professionals.

#3 in Missouri and #2 in St. Louis

Missouri Baptist Medical Center was recognized as "High Performing" in gastroenterology & GI surgery. It was also recognized as "High Performing" in ophthalmology and rheumatology. 

Missouri Baptist offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart, cancer, women and infant’s, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. 

The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University physicians.

Boone Hospital Center US News and World Report

#5 in Missouri

Boone Hospital Center received six "High Performing" ratings. 

The 392-bed full service hospital is located in Columbia, Mo. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 25 mid-Missouri counties.

Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation. The hospital employs over 2000 on its staff and 350 physicians on the medical staff.

#1 in Missouri

U.S. News & World Report has again ranked St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University School of Medicine among America’s Best Children’s Hospitals. The publication ranked St. Louis Children’s first in the state of Missouri, and among the top nine percent, or eighteenth, in the nation. 

The report evaluates ten individual pediatric specialties. St. Louis Children’s was among only 24 out of 191 hospitals to rank in every specialty, and is the only pediatric hospital within nearly 250 miles to rank in all 10 specialties.
