Barnes-Jewish Hospital Once Again Ranked Among Top Hospitals Nationally by U.S. News and World Report

#11 in the United States
#1 in Missouri and St. Louis

Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine are listed among the nation’s elite medical centers in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of “Best Hospitals,” ranking No. 11 in the country. Barnes-Jewish Hospital is also again ranked No. 1 in both Missouri and the metro St. Louis area. It ranked nationally in 12 adult specialties

U.S. News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in both specific specialties (e.g. cardiology), and in certain common procedures and conditions (e.g. joint replacements).

The 1,158-bed primary adult teaching hospital of Washington University School of Medicine is the largest hospital in Missouri and the largest private employer in the St. Louis region. Barnes-Jewish Hospital has a 1,800 member medical staff with many who are recognized as "Best Doctors in America." They are supported by residents, interns and fellows, in addition to nurses, technicians and other health care professionals.

#3 in Missouri and #2 in St. Louis

Missouri Baptist Medical Center was recognized as "High Performing" in gastroenterology & GI surgery. It was also recognized as "High Performing" in ophthalmology and rheumatology. 

Missouri Baptist offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart, cancer, women and infant’s, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. 

The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University physicians.

#5 in St. Louis 

Memorial Hospital Belleville was ranked as high performing in five adult procedures. It also ranked 19th among all hospitals in Illinois. 

The acute care hospital offers medical, surgical and obstetrics services plus emergency and critical care. 

It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Boone Hospital Center US News and World Report

#6 in Missouri

Boone Hospital Center received six "High Performing" ratings. 

The 392-bed full service hospital is located in Columbia, Mo. It is a regional referral center located in the center of the state. The hospital provides progressive healthcare programs, services, and technology to people in 25 mid-Missouri counties.

Although the hospital is full service, areas in which Boone Hospital Center excels are cardiology, neurology, oncology, surgical, obstetrical services, and numerous other specialties. The hospital maintains a 24-hour emergency center with hospital-based ambulance service and a helipad for incoming emergency air transportation. The hospital employs over 2000 on its staff and 350 physicians on the medical staff.

#14 America's Best Children's Hospitals

St. Louis Children's Hospital also ranked #1 in Missouri and St. Louis. 

In each of the 10 specialties surveyed, St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University School of Medicine again rank among the best in the nation, according to U.S.News & World Report. The publication released its annual “Best Children’s Hospitals” edition, along with the methodology used to prepare the rankings.

Of the 183 pediatric hospitals surveyed nationwide, only 25 ranked in ALL 10 specialties – including St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University. St. Louis Children’s Hospital was the only hospital in St. Louis to rank in all 10 specialties.
