Improving Community Health -- $7.4 million, supporting more than 279,000 people Steps to Emotional Healing
The three-day-long bereavement camp is offered for children 6-12 from the community who have experienced the death of a family member at least six months prior. Led by professional staff and volunteers, children come together at Camp Wyman in Eureka, Missouri, for swimming, races, a carnival and outdoor games. The camp is set apart by special therapeutic activities to assist children through the grieving process. They create memory flags, stepping stones and wish sticks, and share memories of their loved ones. With every step, campers experience understanding, encouragement and laughter. |

The journey through grief and loss can be difficult and lonely, especially
for a child. For 10 years, the Stepping Stones camp -- operated by BJC Hospice
at no cost to campers -- has provided a safe place to explore grief, anger and
fear -- balanced by plenty of fun.
