Georgeanna Ensley received her master’s of science in rehabilitation nursing and started on the fast track in her nursing career. She first worked as a clinical nurse specialist for an out-of-state freestanding rehabilitation hospital, in a neuro intensive care unit, then assisted in opening rehab units and was promoted to vice president of professional services. On the road for nine years, she redefined her career goals and realized how much she missed being at the patient bedside.

In Alabama, she heard from other nurses that Missouri Baptist Medical Center’s RN refresher program was one of the best in the country, so she enrolled. The program is designed to integrate inactive registered nurses back into the rapidly changing acute care environment. After the 10-week program, which includes 63 hours of classroom content and 160 hours of preceptored patient care in a medical/surgical clinical area with her mentor, Ensley accepted a position as a staff nurse in ortho/neuro/spine at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. True to her track record, she’s already been promoted to assistant nurse manager.

“There was no doubt in my mind that this is where I wanted to continue my nursing career,” says Ensley. “Like many young nurses, I felt I quit learning clinically. The RN refresher program is an investment in you. You will not find a more thorough, comprehensive course in the state, from either an education standpoint or a clinical hands-on approach to learning.”
