Delivering Quality Care

BJC HealthCare delivers the highest quality medical care to patients. To help patients and family members understand how BJC hospitals perform compared to nationally recognized quality indicators, there is a quality section on the BJC web site. BJC was among the first to make quality and patient safety information for each of its hospitals easily available to the public.

The web site includes key quality measures, such as how well BJC follows accepted evidence-based standards and how often desired patient outcomes are achieved. Whenever possible, the quality reports compare BJC hospitals’ performance to the median (middle) and highest (top ten percent) performance for all hospitals in the United States. BJC’s goal is to be in the highest performance category on all quality measures.

These quality reports are just part of BJC’s efforts to help patients and family members make informed health care choices. Measuring and monitoring quality performance also helps BJC evaluate and provide better health care for patients.

Each of BJC HealthCare’s hospitals, supported by advanced information technology, ongoing research and caring professionals, uses these reports as part of their performance improvement programs.
