Progress West HealthCare Center opens in southern St. Charles County.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital partners with both Missouri Baptist Medical Center and Progress West HealthCare Center to provide pediatric services.

Parkland Health Center combines two clinical programs to become the new Diabetes and Wound Care Center.

HealthGrades, a leading health care ratings organization, ranks Missouri Baptist Medical Center in the top 5 percent of the country’s 4,971 non-federal hospitals for overall clinical excellence.

Steven Lipstein, BJC president and chief executive officer, is named a 2007 Grassroots Champion by the American Hospital Association for his leadership in educating lawmakers about the effects of state and federal policies on hospitals and the health care system.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital will exceed a $125 million goal in one of the largest fundraising campaigns ever undertaken in the St. Louis region. The Building for Care, Searching for Cures campaign will fund efforts to help the hospital expand its capabilities to continue to provide world-class care for children. The money raised also establishes the Children’s Discovery Institute, a research center partnership with Washington University School of Medicine, to use new tools and techniques to discover cures for major congenital childhood diseases.

BJC HealthCare receives the 2007 Corporate Citizenship Award from the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association for demonstrating the highest corporate standards, citizenship and commitment to the region.

Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital expands the services offered by academic physicians through its affiliation with Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.

Boone Hospital Center, Clay County Hospital and BJC Behavioral Health Services receive the BJC HealthCare CEO Excellence in Quality Award for exceeding their annual targets in four key areas – clinical quality, patient satisfaction, operating earnings and unit cost for 2006.


Enrollment in myHealthFolders tops 3,000 participants.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital is named #9 on the U.S.News & World Report listing of America’s Best Hospitals.


The $235 million BJC Institute of Health at Washington University is announced. Researchers will collaborate to lead advances in medical science and patient care in key therapeutic areas of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions. The institute is scheduled to open in December 2009.
