Health Care Safety Net |
||||
|
BJC HealthCare is headquartered in the City of St. Louis, and our
hospitals are located throughout the region. We serve all areas of the
community, including those that are economically distressed and
historically underserved.
As a member of the St. Louis Regional Health Commission, BJC is committed to improving the region’s health-care safety net, increasing health care access, enhancing community collaboration, reducing health disparities and improving health outcomes, particularly among those most at risk. BJC HealthCare also was a driving force behind the creation of Saint Louis ConnectCare in 1997. In 2000, BJC contributed $850,000 to keep ConnectCare in operation after they lost federal disproportionate share funding. |
From the beginning, BJC has been an important and enduring member of the
ConnectCare partnership, which comprises members of the public and
private sector, including St. Louis City and St. Louis County
governments, hospital systems, medical schools, state government, the
federal government and other community health centers. In 2005, BJC
contributed $800,000 to ConnectCare to assist in the transition of their
health clinics to federally qualified health centers.
BJC also provides in-kind services to Saint Louis ConnectCare in the form of legal counsel, risk management, information systems and financial support. In addition, BJC partners with ConnectCare to ensure patients receive health care services where most appropriate. |
