BJC Corporate Health Services celebrates the 60th anniversary of BarnesCare, which provides occupational health services to St. Louis area companies.
Barnes-Jewish Hospital establishes its Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence. By ensuring a diverse health care workforce sensitive to the unique cultural needs of all patients and their families, The Barnes-Jewish Center for Diversity and Cultural Competence strives to reduce the barriers related to race, class and socioeconomic status for those seeking health care and employment.
Christian Hospital opens its expanded Cancer Care Center and outpatient Diabetes Institute.

Boone Hospital Center announces plans to build the first intergenerational center in Missouri. The 21,400-square-foot facility with adjoining daycare centers for children and seniors will open in 2008.

BJC’s president and chief executive officer, Steven Lipstein, receives the 2006 Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor given by the Missouri Hospital Association.

BJC HealthCare partners with the Saint Louis Science Center to bring BJC SportsWorks to families across the region. The exhibition, which ran from June 2006 to April 2007, included interactive sports activities and educational exhibits promoting health and fitness for all ages.

BJC Medical Group begins implementation of electronic medical records (EMR).


Boone Hospital Center opens a new 80,000-square-foot addition, the Center for Advanced Medicine, to house outpatient services in one location. Services receives the Overall Top Performer Award from Professional Research Consultants.

BJC Home Care Services receives the Overall Top Performer Award from Professional Research Consultants.


BJC HealthCare begins working closely with the Missouri Department of Transportation and Gateway Constructors to ensure that the needs of patients and employees are carefully considered throughout the New I-64 highway rebuilding project.

For the first time in history, quintuplets are born at Barnes-Jewish Hospital after months of preparation and planning with the family and medical team at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

BJC HealthCare receives the Greater St. Louis Top 50 Businesses Shaping Our Future award from the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association.
